Marcus Green drafted by Atlanta Falcons

With rounds 4-7.

A former area high school football standout received his life changing phone call this afternoon.

Former north pontotoc viking standout marcus green was drafted by the atlanta falcons in the 6th round.

Green hosted a draft party this evening at the buffalo wild wings in tupelo.

When green signed with ulm in 2014, he was the first viking to sign a d1 scholarship.

Today, he became the first viking drafted into the nfl.

Green is a versatile player who will likely start on special teams, but don't be surprised if the falcons utilize his speed elsewhere.

Green desribes the moment he became a falcon.

Marcus green: 'me and my family we're getting ready to go to my draft dinner actually.

I got on the road and was like maybe i'll catch it when i get to bww.

As soon as i got on the road, i had my phone hooked up to the speaker and i got a call and they were like are you ready to be a falcon.

I think it was steve sabo that called me he was like are you ready to be a falcon.

I was like yes sir, and i look over and he was like was amazed.

It's just a blessing to get that call.

I've been waiting on that my whole life and it's just a blessing.'

Gerri green was the 5th and final missisisppi state bulldog
