Sinkhole.... a sinkhole appeared on gardner blvd next to wendy's last night ( saturday).... the hole is about 3.5 feet wide and 8 feet deep... columbus police department reports a leaking underground pipe caused the sinkhole... columbus light and water will begin emergency repairs tomorrow ( monday)..

Police blocked off the area and are asking drivers to use caution when driving in the area... this morning residents are still dealing with a sinkhole in lee county,, they say the sinkhole expanded about four feet ... the sinkhole and landslide spread and is now inches away from the road.... the expansion caused the water lines below to separate and cut off water for people living nearby.

The water started running again about four o clock saturday morning.... residents are worried about how fast the sinkhole is expanding.... was going on ."

That's why the first thing i did was call the water company first and i called the road advisor and he told me he was going to get in touch with everybody.

Everybody on the road was up and down here trying to figure out what was going on.

" county administrators closed down half of the road and left one lane open.

The county emergency management director plans to re access the damage tomorrow ( monday)... folks waking up this morning who live near the sinkhole you still need to boil your water.... the north lee water association issued a boil water for county road 96 to county road 1253 and all adjoining roads ... meanwhile residents in choctaw county need to use a detour while traveling near a landslide on a highway.

Heavy rainfall since the beginning of the year caused a landslide along highway 9.

M-dot officials said about six miles of the highway between ackerman and eupora between reform-sturgis road and highway 790 is closed due to the landslide.

Warning signs are in place, and a detour is in place along highway 82, highway 15, and highway 12.

The road will remain closed until engineers can determine the severity the slide.

We received a ton of rain so far this year and it caused issues throughout northeast mississippi... like sinkholes in a few counties.... february is once again setting up to possibly break rainfall records... and rain continues to move into the area this week... our weather team said this month has already been one the of the wettest months on record for our area.
