An animal rights welfare group held a demonstration outside of the Austin business.

I talked to the group to see what they are protesting.

Each time a truck with pigs passed by, the protesters ran up and took pictures.

Organizer ashley riddle says she has been protesting in the spot once a month for years hog processing protest-llpkg-4 ashley sot: " these pigs are in poor condition they are scraped up, some are bleeding they are obviously terrified and i think if you can put a face to these food products that they are consuming maybe people will think twice.

There are 1,300 pigs killed here every hour up to 22,000 a day.

Mackenzie marie is protesting for the first time.

Overcome by emotion, she was comforted by another protester.

These activists say their message is simple.

So we do apart of minneapolis animal saves we have signs and try and get footage inside the trucks to try and educate the public because we have confidence that most of the time most people don't know what's happening.

Hog processing protest-llpkg-8 ashley sot: "so it's definitely environmental, health and human rights issues too i mean the people that work here i can't imagine that they love their jobs they want changes made in the processing practices here... but really they want more.

They'd like us all to consider a plant based diet.
