February is heart month.

Dr. sham ed is here to talk about early signs of a heart attack.

>> tell us what are early warning signs when it comes to heart health that your heart isn't working like it should be.

>> and of the early signs of heart attack that most people need to know about.

Obviously people know about chest pains.

Aching inside the chest.

Sometimes burning that people may attribute to stomach issues could be a sign of heart attack.

Shortness of breath.

Or heavy sweating or chest pain with sweating.

These are all early signs of heart attack.

When those happen, that is the time that 911 or emergency care service is needed.

Some people may have different symptoms. it could be extraordinary fatigue.

Not feeling your usual self, nauseated and chest pain.

>> as a female, i should be looking for different signs, is that correct?

>> the classic signs of chest pain or pressure usually described in text books are more often than men.

In women it could be atypical.

Feeling fatigued.

Not having the energy you used to have or shortness of breath.

Those could be signs of heart attack.

>> every year we get all of our vitamins checked and our blood checked to make sure we're good.

If we know we're good on vitamin d and b 12, it could be something more serious.

>> yes, in these days we have a screening just like you check your vitamin level, we can do a score, especially if you have a family history of heart disease or someone who has been smoking for a while.

After age 50, this is something that can help you understand if you have build up the plaque to predispose you.

This is a good screening tool we have got.
