Chico police arrested this man- michael cartier-ward- they say he fired shots from a handgun outside of the motel six on manzanita court wednesday night.

When officers arrived on scene they say cartier- ward was in a nearby dennys.

Police evacuated the restaurant and arrested ward.

Police say cartier-ward is facing charges of negligent discharge of a firearm, and being a drug addict in possession of a firearm.

### community members are responding after a man convicted in the d-u-i death of chico was sentenced to just five years of probation.

Bryan dawson pleaded guilty to "gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated"... with an enhancement of leaving the scene of a crime.

In handing down the sentence, the judge noted that dawson already served a year in jail, expressed remorse, had no criminal history..

And was enrolled in a treatment program for alcohol.

## a new program from oroville police landed a dozen people behind bars..... its all part of a the city's new 'problem oriented policing team'.

The team tallied up 12 arrests during a parole and probation sweep throughout the city tuesday.

Police say eight of the suspects were in violation of parole..

Four were arrested for failure to register as a sexual offender, and various drug charges.

### cal fire crews are still battling a 154 acre vegetation fire near black butte lake in glenn county.

The 'grizzly' fire started on monday around noon.
