Chico police arrested this man- michael cartier-ward- they say he fired shots from a handgun outside of the motel six on manzanita court wednesday night.

When officers arrived on scene they say cartier- ward was in a nearby dennys.

Police evacuated the restaurant and arrested ward.

Police say cartier-ward is facing charges of negligent discharge of a firearm, and being a drug addict in possession of a firearm.

### community members are responding after a man convicted in the d-u-i death of chico was sentenced to just five years of probation.

Bryan dawson pleaded guilty to "gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated"... with an enhancement of leaving the scene of a crime.

In handing down the sentence, the judge noted that dawson already served a year in jail, expressed remorse, had no criminal history..

And was enrolled in a treatment program for alcohol.

## a new program from oroville police landed a dozen people behind bars..... its all part of a the city's new 'problem oriented policing team'.

The team tallied up 12 arrests during a parole and probation sweep throughout the city tuesday.

Police say eight of the suspects were in violation of parole..

Four were arrested for failure to register as a sexual offender, and various drug charges.

### cal fire crews are still battling a 154 acre vegetation fire near black butte lake in glenn county.

The 'grizzly' fire started on monday around noon.

The fire is now 85- percent contained.

Firefighters are expected to remain on scene to put out the fire completely.

### corning city council directed city staff to research more into a ban on flavored tobaco... after a group of high school students presented their findings at council meeting.

Research from the california health kids survey found over 22 percent of kids in tehama county said they used flavored tobacco products.

The city of corning says once their research is complete... they will bring back their findings to the city council.## representatives have confirmed the first death from the coronavirus in california..

An elderly person from placer county- died wednesday... doctors says the person had health conditions and died at a hospital in roseville while in isolation.

The person was from rocklin, and was likely exposed to the virus while on a princess cruise ship from san francisco to mexico in february.

### the rocklin fire department says three of their employees are among the five emergency responders now under quarantine after being exposed to the patient who died today.

The fire chief says his department - among several others - are now taking extra precautions on every medical callãper new cd--c guidelines.
