But this week, its suppose to be about sec basketball fans coming together as they cheer on their team for the chance of an out right bid to the ncaa tournament.

The mood has been somber since the sec called off the tournamnet just after 11 this morning, with fans in disbelief that covid-19 is shutting down the sports scene.

"it was a weird day."

The banners, are coming down, the players are going home, covid-19, cancelling the sec tournament hours before the first tip off of day two.

"well the immediate thought it disappointment because i was excited to be here."

Joy griffin was excited to spend the day with her son watching basketball "but i totally understand why, and i'm glad everyone is trying to be safe."

Taylor eide is one of the few people who saw a basketball game in nashville, "we lost yesterday pretty bad."

He was there wednesday night watching his ole miss rebels take on georgia.

"it was a terrible game for us, but we'll make it up."

Not this year, even if ole miss had a chance of making the ncaa tournament, the big dance is in jeopardy, ncaa officials saying they'll make a decision friday on whether to play.

"they know what's happening in a bigger picture than i can see."

In the meantime, eide is taking coronvirus a little more seriously, as more leagues cancel sporting events.

"stay back i guess.".

Greg sankey told media today, calling off the tournament was the hardest decision he's made as sec commisioner.

He got emotional talking about taking memories away from the student athletes, but reinforced his decision , saying his first priority is safety.
