Election Day continues in Illinois

Some states "postponed their elections" in light "of co-vid-19 concerns".

But today..

"the illinois primary" is well underway.

News 10's "jada huddlestun" spoke "with voters" and "poll workers today".

She explains..

I'm here at saint mary's parish hall.

Now..

This is just one of several voting locations across clark county.

Despite it being election day..

I caught up with some poll workers and they say it's been rather slow.

One of the big topics on this ballot is the referendum.

It would allow marshall residents to decide if a marijuana dispensary will come to the city.

Now of course..

With all the concerns of covid-19... the state has given guidance to local election offices about how to deal with the coronavirus.

That includes wiping down voting machines, door handles, and bathrooms. there should also be hand sanitizer that's easily accessible for voters.

I caught up with some poll workers.

They say voter turnout has been down so far..

But they're still working round the clock to make sure those coming to vote are safe.

"we've got our sanitizer, and stuff, so we've got that covered.

We're keep doing the doors and stuff, and if we see there's someone elderly on oxygen or something, we'll go out and ask them if they want us to go to them instead of coming im."

Just a reminder..

The polls do close at 7 o'clock tonight..

So if you haven't had the chance to get out and vote you still have some time to do so.
