School may be out, but class is definitely in session for this Japenese classic dance teacher.

Maha Albadrawi reports.

As the spread of the novel coronavirus forces restrictions on schools and public gatherings, Takujiro Hanayagi has adapted by holding classes via online streaming.

Adults in Japan maybe asked to stay indoors in the future too.

But culture shouldn't stop because of the virus.

I think it is an opportunity to think about what can be done under the circumstances." The traditional Japanese art known as "Nihon Buyo" requires close face-to-face line of sight, and conducting classes online allows Hanayagi to give real-time feedback to his students.

Komaki Yamashita, who takes the classes with her daughter Konoha, has found the compromise surprisingly easy.

But I found it is not as inconvenient as I imagined.

It's similar to how I would normally practice." Hanayagi thinks that students and teachers can continue to achieve their goals, despite the disruptions to everyday life.
