Preschools tend to be germ-filled but Nelson said she and her staff are on top of teaching cleanliness.

Schools are shutting down nation-wide -- including some pre-schools... but many parents rely on third- party childcare.

Especially those that can't work from home during the coronavirus outbreak... action news now reporter brandon benitez has more... that's right linda, i'm here just outside the smart start pre school here in chico... this school is used to having between 60 to 80 kids under their care... but the coronavirus outbreak has cut that number in half.

Ann nelson is the school's administrator and says they're staying open despite the drop in numbers.

In fact -- smart start is working with other pre schools who've shut down temporarily in an effort to keep childcare available to the public... not all centers have the ability to stay open with a small amount of children coming so we spoke to licensing and we're able to bring in students from other centers if theyre center has to close so in the meantime we can help out with that then they can go back to their centers as soon as they're able to open up nelson says she's come in contact with a lot of preschools already.

Smart start has no intention on keeping kids from other schools.

They're just happy to help the community... pre schools have a tendency to be a bit germ- filled... but coming up at five, i'll tell you about how smart start is being proactive in keeping a clean environment... in chico, i'm brandon benitez action news now coverage you can count on... thanks brandon, smart start is located on east avenue near the chico elks lodge if you're in need of childcare... people
