Fiancés Keith Richoux and Ashley Kirkpatrick are different in a lot of ways: he’s 57 and a widower, she’s 27 and mum to a four-year-old.
Ashley is African American, Keith is white, with a touch of Santa Claus about him.
She’s an accountant, he’s an electrician and Ashley describes herself as more liberal than ‘conservative’ Keith.
And yet the pair say it is because they are polar opposites that their relationship works – and why after just four months, the couple got engaged.
Living in Mandeville , Louisiana, the pair are used to getting looks and assumptions made about them – whether that’s to do with being in an interracial or age gap relationship.
Ashley says people still accuse her of being a sugar baby, despite being financially independent from Keith and working full time.
As they plan their wedding, Keith and Ashley have also come up against opposition from family who have expressed concerns at the speed of their engagement.
