Two of the best players to play in the Med City, Gabe and Mason will play for the University of Cincinnati in the fall.

Order is impacting how our local athletes are staying in shape.

Kimt news 3 sports zach gilleland joins me now with a story about how two local athletes are getting by.xxx mayo's gabe and mason madsen were in a difficult situation just a few weeks ago.

They were prepping for a section tournament finals, if they won then the spartans would've gone to their first state tourney since 2008... but of course due to this... it didn't happen.

Both boys are division one college talents, and i had a chance to speak with them earlier today about what they're doing to pass the time and how they're prepping for the next level.xx electrifying gyms all across minnesota... the madsen brothers were one of a kind to rochester.

Their season was cut short three weeks ago due to the coronavirus.

"i've been trying to learn how to play the guitar, i'm playing piano right now, right before you called i was playing the piano."

Fitness centers and gyms are closed until at least may first.

With those closures, it's made it difficult to practice their game.

"today you cant even go anywhere so i was just outside, it was really cold i was just dribbling with a really flat ball, my hands were really numb but found a way to get basketball in."

There's still no sense of closure to the end to the season, but a lot of what ifs.

"we didn't get to feel the end result of all that hard work and so hopefully sometime in college in we can feel that."

Now the brothers are prepping for a brand new season... their freshman season at the university of cincinnati.

And after this layoff, they'll be ready for college ball.

"i cannot wait, i'm
