Man Pleads Guilty On Plot To Attack White House

Newser reports that a Georgia man plead guilty to plotting to attack the White House, after the FBI received a tip in 2018.

Authorities claim that the White House was just one of Hasher Jallal Taheb's targets.

He was reportedly also planning solo attacks on the Statue of Liberty, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and a synagogue.

The 23-year-old car wash worker, who lived with his mother, was under investigation for nearly a year when he was arrested in an FBI sting operation in January 2019.

US Attorney BJay Pak told the Atlanta Journal Constitution, "Taheb hatched a dangerous plan that would have resulted in unimaginable injury." But federal public defenders say that claims that Taheb was radicalized and planned to do harm was "a fantastical plan could not be farther from reality." Taheb pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to destroy a federal building.

Prosecutors are recommending a 15-year prison sentence.
