North Mississippi golf clubs have had to make some changes to help keep visitors safe from the coronavirus

Especially those folks with a little more time on their hands and they want to get out of their homes.

Wtva's evan hensley joins us with what golf courses are doing to keep their golfers safe.

The coronavirus has forced many people to spend much more time inside their homes.

That is why many people have came out to places like here at the tupelo national golf club to get away from their home... cole glenn - guntown "just enjoying the beautiful day.

It's good to get out of the house.

We are still trying to social distance a bit out here but just enjoying the day."

Cole glenn came out to tupelo national to play a round with some of his buddies... and to get out of his home... "it was one of the things i was thankful for seeing in the guidelines so we can get out here y'know just enjoy the day."

Golf clubs all across the state have tried to be a haven for people who are looking to do something other than quarantine... jason soward - general manager of tupelo national "they definitely need a way to get out of the house.

Something to do, something outside as a form of entertainment.

This is something that fits in the guidelines."

Bridge stand up club management put in new rules allowing only a few people in the club house.

Management also requires people on the course to practice social distance.

"we allow the golfers to go one to a cart.

Sanitizing the carts after every use.

We have removed all the bunker rakes out of the sand traps."

"this gives them an outlet or something to enjoy the beautiful day.

It could help them forget about everything going on."
