VARIOUS OF YET-TO-BE-NAMED AFRICAN ELEPHANT CALF STANDING WITH HERD AND EXPLORING ZOO ENCLOSURE STORY: An African elephant calf explored her surroundings under her mother’s watchful eye at Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Arizona.
The yet-to-be named calf was born on April 6 to 30-year-old mother Semba and 30-year-old father Mabu, Reid Park Zoo told Reuters in an email.
A video taken over the course of the baby elephant’s first week of life shows the calf exploring the habitat alongside her mother Semba, sister Nandi and brother Sundzu, Reid Park Zoo said.
“Coming during this challenging time in the world, this baby elephant is a symbol of the beauty and resilience of life for so many.
We are just thrilled for Semba and the whole herd,” Nancy Kluge, Reid Park Zoological Society President and CEO, said in an emailed statement.
