Bruce mayor in quarantine after city hall worker tests positive for coronavirus

A worker at city hall in Bruce tested positive for the coronavirus in mid-April that now has city workers in quarantine.

Spoke with the mayor of bruce and joins us in studio with how he is feeling... mayor ruddy pope told me this afternoon they are on day seven of quarantine... he says one of the office workers became sick and tested positive for the virus... pkg rudy pope - mayor of bruce "it is terrible i hate this, i can't do nothing from home and i'm a people person and i like to get out and meet everybody and that's really hard home."

Bruce mayor rudy pope says the quarantine has been hard for him and his family... especially because he is a part of the at-risk community.... "i am going to work a little bit longer from home.

I have got some issues and i sure don't want to get this, i may not be back."

Mayor pope says he is trying to stay busy... "pretty much,i'm staying busy.

I am having a lot of phone calls and solving a lot of problems, it aint the same as being out with people."

He says the people of bruce have done a great job being patient and taking social distancing rules seriously... "i know it is terrible for everybody smaller cities, its really bad on smaller cities because we don't have the revenue or the things we need to do what the big cities do."

He is urging everyone in the community to remain patient..

"it is really hard because you really don't know and you gotta get 6 feet away from everybody so its pretty hard on everybody to do that."

Pope says the office worker is expected to be back at work come next week and is feeling better... reporting for wtva 9 news i'm evan hensley
