Died in a car accident.

Deputy vick crashed his car on his way home?

Early wednesday morning.

His death was*not related to the virus.

We deeply regret this mistake?

His fellow deputies?

Outside of the hopkins county sheriff's office there's a beautiful memorial which keeps growing.

Everyone i spoke to tells me he made western kentucky and beyond a better place.

Where deputy vick served as an school resource officer.

"he always made it fun and he also helped at at central, where i'm a teacher."

Here's one of his final messages to his students.

"you guys be safe out there.

Remember you can do it for me, wash those hands.

Be safe.

You know why?

Because we are hanson hunters."

"he was just such a blessing.

He always had a positive thing to say for everybody."

"whether things were going well or not, he would find the best in things and would find a way to make it fun."

Judge executive curtis mcgehee knew deputy vick for 20 year?

Becoming close family friends.

"terry and i had a lot of great times together, but we also had some difficult times that we had to work through."

Mcgehee even got to work with him while serving as the sheriff for muhlenberg county.

"he worked for me the entire time i was sheriff as a second shift supervisor and he did a superior job.

People out in the community loved terry."

When judge mcgehee found out deputy vick died in a car crash wednesday mornin?

He went to the scene of the cras?

Comforting vick's wife.

"to find out about it was certainly heartbreaking.

Last night and today has been difficult for me and it's be difficult for our community.

So many people have lost a very good friend."

Deputy vick also did everything he could to protect others and give back.

Receiving numerous awards for his efforts.

"he also went on to receive a medal of honor from the kentucky sheriff's association back in 2012.
