Restaurants prepare for return of dine-in service
Many restaurants have had massive layoffs amid the pandemic.

Are about 13- hundred restaurants in lane county.... and it's fair to say they're all looking forward to getting customers back inside their buildings.

But as kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome shows us ---- there are a lot of hurdles to get over before diners can walk in and sit down.

"so the restaurant has been empty."

But not for long.

Some local restaurants and bars plan to open for dine in next friday - but with big changes joe "social distancing will have to be in place" brittany "we are sanitizing everything more" joe "we're going to be at least at half capacity."

Brittany "we'll be wiping down chairs" joe "i'm imagining more outdoor seating as much as possible" brittany "we'll have a bin for clean menues and a bin for dirty menus" emma jerome: "morning glory here in eugene has remained open for take out only - but management tells me it's been rough and they've had to lay off over half their staff.

But one they're back and running at full speed... manager joe hawkey said their jobs will be waiting for them "everybody who is a part of our staff is important to us and has a role to play here."

But they aren't the only business excited to get moving again trev's sports bar mainly caters to crowds that flood out of autzen stadium and matthew knight arena, but they're excited to get people in their restaurant again even if it looks different brittany: " we're excited to get back to work and our customers are excited to be able to sit and dine too" as outlined by governor browns order - restaurants can open dine in options for customers if there is social distancing and wait staff wear masks we'll see how it goes."

For those working in the food industry... it's just one more challenge... during these challenging times.
