Major airlines have parked their planes at Teruel Airport, in eastern Spain, after governments around the world enacted travel restrictions in March and some closed their airspace to commercial flights due to the coronavirus crisis.
Teruel Airport does not cater to passengers but is Europe's largest dedicated storage and maintenance facility.
It can store up to 125 planes, with plans to expand to cater to 260 aircraft.
The airport hosts planes which are temporarily or permanently out of service and sometimes is referred to as the aircraft "graveyard." Alejandro Ibrahim, head of the airport, said air traffic at Teruel had doubled as a result of recent restrictions but he expects most planes to leave once air traffic resumes.
