Local clothing stores start to reopen in Chico

Many popular downtown Chico businesses are starting to slowly reopen.

Some chico businesses have received the green light to reopenãas we move further into phase two of governor newsom's plan.

Action news now reporter kristian lopez is live at 5th street clothing company in downtown chico, kristian how are local stores adjusting?

Many are excited to be back and are ramping up safety measures to keep people safe.

Lisa breuner/shopper: i'm really happy to have the store open and come shop again.

Downtown chico is slowly starting to come back to life&& amber and elyse kierig/owners of "for elyse": everyone is excited that we are open i get lots of squeals on the phone it feels nice that people are excited that we are open again.

Mother daughter duo amber and elyse own "for elyse" a popular clothing shop that is back open after a tough few weeks.

Amber and elyse kierig/owners of "for elyse": it doesn't feel good to not be able to open your store every day and so it was a little stressful.

But as we move further into phase 2 of reopening --- some clothing shops are back in business and are taking precautions.

Amber and elyse kierig/owners of "for elyse": cleaning, sanitizing, maintaining six feet apart and booking appointments with people we are excited to see everyone but we are trying to schedule them out so we don't have too many people in at a time......it feels good i'm excited to be back for our customers and employees..... kristian bridge: and just a few doors down is 5th street clothing company who recently reopened their doors as well....i checked in with them to see how business was going.

Carol munson/owner of 5th street clothing company: its been great its refreshing..... owner carol munson says she's mostly been getting positive feedback from her customers.

Carol munson/owner of 5th street clothing company: it has been wonderful i'm back and im enjoying my customers and they are enjoying having their time here.

She says they are making sure customers are safe.

Lisa breuner/shopper: i always stop here because its a family environment and they have a great selection.

Local shoppers say they're excited but are being cautious.

Lisa breuner/shopper: certainly its changed i've been more aware of people everyone and everyone seems to be following suit for the most part so i'm confident.
