The defending Oregon American Legion state champions are hopeful they'll get to play baseball this season.

That.

(take josh key) the m-l-b began discussions with players of the current proposal to restart the 20-20 season.

But here in medford, ballgames at u-s cellular could be happening much sooner.

The defending american legion state champion medford mustangs, have put together a plan to play ball.

(topic key) according to head coach nate mayben, it's a plan that's been in the works for awhile, but hit it's stride last week.

After the american legion said they wouldn't sponsor the 20-20 summer season, the region four coaches held a conference call.

The teams, mostly located in southern oregon, discussed a way to serve the players who needed baseball the most.

In the end, they had a clear message for players.

(take nate key) nate mayben says, "all we're doing is providing a place for you to come and get in shape and work out and get reps.

It's like a spring trading heading into your fall baseball season, which hopefully happens for these kids."

(take josh key) coming up tonight on newswatch 12 at 6, what a 20-20 season would look like for the medford mustangs.
