New at noon today....a partnership between the city of lexington and baptist health is bringing a billion dollar project and hundreds of new jobs to the hamburg area.
Lexington mayor linda gorton and president of baptist health lexington, william sisson announced today the contruction project includes a new medical campus... and eventually a new fire station to be built off polo club boulevard.
The campus will include a multi- story hospital..a surgery center... medical office space and 12 other buildings for retail as well as parking.
Mayor gorton says the campus will strengthen the cities medical footprint..to help those in central and eastern kentucky.
"we are looked upon in the whole region as a healthcare hub, a hub of really high quality healthcare, so this a real win for the healthcare sector in the area and gives us great strength" they have not
