Try to increase capacity.

New information -- rain started falling soon after the rocket city trash pandas announced the team will have to wait one more year for their inaugural season.

The gloomy skies reflected the disappointment both the team and fans expressed.

The entire minor league baseball season is canceled this year -- due to coronavirus.

Waay 31's max co-han has more on how the team is planning for the future.

"while there will be baseball played at toyota field this year - obviously not in conditions like this- it won't be the rocket city trash pandas making their debut as major league baseball announced today that it would not be providing minor league teams with the affiliated players, effectively canceling the season."

"this is obviously an extremely difficult day for the trash pandas and everybody associated with the organization."

Even though trash pandas president and ceo ralph nelson had unofficially known the team wouldn't play for a while, he said the news today hurt -- but now, with young athletes using the field, he's already seeing silver linings.

"it's hard to believe because it's so rough, but there's been a silver lining and to see young people enthusiastic on the field, it's a great thing."

And those who have been on the diamond recently are loving every minute of it.

"this is a really nice field, love playing on it.

And we're gonna beat the next team we play on it, so it'll be nice."

When nelson first heard the news that there might not be a minor league season, he told his people to switch from a baseball mindset to a merchandising and event focused one.

Seen with event's like tuesday travel games.

"and, because of that, we have only had to layoff three employees, here -- entry level employees.

And we have not cut the salaries of any of our staff."

"it's currently unclear exactly what the 20-21 season holds, but nelson says it's gonna be bigger and better than anyone could have expected.

In madison, max cohan, waay 31 news."
