Some restaurants are closing their doors after employees are testing positive while others are choosing to shut down temporarily due to coronavirus surge concerns.

One more county has been placed on the state watch list, inplementing rolled back restrictions on things like in- door dining and other activities.

Placer county was added today, bring the total number of counties on that list to 27, including glenn, colusa, yuba and sutter counties.

Meanwhile, more local restaurants are choosin* to shut down - one after an employee tested positive for covid-19 another choosing safety over profit.

Action news now reporter kristian lopez is live in downtown chico.

Will brady: everything says "don't be open."

The banshee - offering*take- out onl* for the past few months shutting down again.

Brady: "we didn't think we'd be terribly busy but we didn't know how tight it was going to be."

Owner will brady says it's not jus* about losing money - it's about safety.

With positive cases at other restaurants he doesn't want to take any chances with coronavirus cases surging.

((show video of pita pit and rileys)))) will brady: it's going to happen to us eventually&.we aren't going to just wait around to get caught up in something.

There's that problem and the food cost problem.

Kristian: normally these tables would be filled with people enjoying their food....there would be people lining up at the bar ordering drinks but as you can see the restaurant is completely empty.

The owner says he would not feel comfortable opening up his dining area until there's a vaccine available or the mortality rate starts going down.

Brady: then we can say ok let's open back up.

Brady says until then he'll use the money for the ppp loan to pay his employees to renovate the banshee while it's closed.

Brady: we think that if we're going to make it and we are.

Its best to use this time to improve our business for the future without the coronavirus hanging over our heads.

Downtown chico is going to be great after this.

The way i like to think of it is that theres gotta be good news sooner or later.

The banshee they will still be offering curbside and takeout until sunday night.

After that it will be closed until further notice while they renovate.
