Huntsville, madison city and madison county schools are all asking for help to make the start of school a smooth one.

They all announced virtual-only learning for the first 9 weeks.

Waay 31's grace campbell shows us how "free 2 teach" is already doing that.

Jennifer cummings, manager: "we are here for the children that need the most help in getting school supplies for the best education they can have."

Jennifer cummings told me free to teach relies on donations.

Usually from retired teachers to provide current teachers as many supplies as possible.

They're needed now more than ever because of the coronavirus.

"there is going to be more kids who are at risk and at need that need more supplies because of what's happened in the world today."

Cummings explained how the process normally works but admitted online learning could change things.

"the teachers get to come in and pick up crayons and markers and colored pencils, and we don't know how that's going to look with the virtual learning, but that's what we're here for, to supply those things to the teachers."

If and when students return to traditional schools free 2 teach expects a higher than usual demand because back to school sales won't be around.

"i don't think parents, especially during this time, are going to be able to afford $3 for a box of crayons or $4 for a box of markers.

We're going to have that product here for them.

We're going to have it for the teachers to come pick up for those kids" in huntsville, grace campbell, waay
