Lafayette Mayor swears in new member of human relations commission

Chad Young said his goal is to give youth a voice in Lafayette.

Member of the city's human relations commission..

Young makes the seventh member of the group..

The commission is responsible for the fight against prejudices in the community..

With a focus on local businesses and schools..

Young's priority as a teacher is serving children and young adults in local educational institutions..

Chad -- my goal is to give the youth a voice.

To give the youth of the greater lafayette a voice, because i feel like you know we have all kinds of backgrounds of students in our classrooms, whether they are learning disabled, come from a different creed, race, lgbtq community, you know sometimes they feel they don't have a voice, and i hope to be that bridge you know between them and like i said the local government.

Young and the rest of the human relations commission meet four times a year..

But serve as a resource to the public year round..
