Atmos Energy announced Thursday it’ll expand natural gas service to further benefit Starkville, Mississippi State University (MSU) and surrounding areas.

Project is one that impacts a major attraction in starkville.

The public service commissioner said its all about keeping the cost of living down and the price of heat down.

Keenum said atmos energy workers are installing 2 miles of a natural gas pipeline at the horsepark..16 low cost heaters will save the university half of its energy and half the cost.

Executive director of the mississippi horsepark bricklee miller said she worked on this project for over 10 years.

Bricklee miller-executive director, mississippi horsepark atmos energy workers began construction on the gas line this week.

Miller said members will hold a pre-construction bid meeting to discuss the heaters and total project costs.
