Detectives have not stopped looking for killer in Springfield's only unsolved murder
This is Springfield's only unsolved murder case.

Year's after a springfield woman was found dead in her home... a detective on the case is talking about the unsolved murder.

Last night you heard from the victim's son... who said police weren't doing enough.

But as kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome reports... police say they've never stopped trying.

He says... they've done everything they can.

"it's kind of a frenzy at first" detective justin myers is the lead detective on the case.

He says four years ago he was working patrol on the day ashley was killed - the first officer to see what had happenedn emma jerome : " driving through these streets you'll find houses, schools, and churches... but you'll also find a community searching for answers and a dark secret.

A murder that left a woman battered and her family shattered."

He says though this case is cold it's not going away unitl it's been solved... but he says they've exhausted their leads "there are over 100 different people we've talked to regarding this case and anyone that says you know my friend so and so thinks they saw something we've tracked them down and asked them and most of the time... well all of the time in this case... it hasn't worked out for us myers says on other murder cases he's worked --- from start to finish --- detectives write 35 reports or less.

That means 35 different interviews... evidence reports... or leads.

In the ashly case?

They're up to over 120 reports... and still no arrest.

A murder that to this day is unsolved police say that the manner in which ashley was killed was personal... myers says it's personal to him too "the first officer to write any sort of report on this case was me... i'd like to write the last one on the case too.

Dorothy's family is offering up a 5 thousand dollar reward to the first person who gives information leading to an arrest and conviction myers says he anticipates he'll be busy the next few days fielding calls from people who think they might know something - and as many of those lead to nothing - one may lead to the truth - and to closure for the family reportning in springfield emma jerome kezi 9 news douglas county deputies are looking for a missing 22-year-old man.

They say austin wilkison hasn't been seen since last friday.
