On thursday the indiana high school athletic association released a set of guidelines outlining how schools and teams should proceed with games and practices safely.

The good thing is, we're talking about having a game and whether there's fans or not, i know that our kids will be excited and enthusiastic about being out on the fields competing.

The document also outlined how fans will be admitted to athletic contests.

For example, in a set of bleachers, it is recommended that they be open at no more than 50 percent capacity.

The crowds will look different, i think they have to mask up and obviously distance themselves but, it sure is nice to be able to play in front of your home crowd and our players hope that they get that opportunity, we're certainly looking forward to that.

Mater dei has a great fan base, a lot of support and even if we don't have the fans there, we know they'll be rooting for us.

They'll still be tailgating, they'll do whatever they can to support us so, i think we'll still be fine.

I don't think it'll affect us too much.

We'll just focus on the games.

We really hope to work collaboratively with all of the other athletic directors in the siac tomorrow, continue to work with our health department and then be able to educate the community on what our plan is and how we're going to put these games on.

And furthermore, schools and teams will not be penalized if a game is cancelled.

Games not played will simply go down as no contest.

The contract sometimes say if you have to get out of the game for some reason, sometimes there's a financial penalty and obviously during these times the ihsaa have lessoned that and said that there will be no financial penalties for not being able to have a game due to health reasons and those types of things and i think it's obvious they should have done that but it's good to finally get that in writing.

If they have to step aside maybe there will be another team somewhere else that the opponent can pick up and fill the schedule like gibson southern is doing right now, but who knows as far as canceling the penalty fee, i think that only makes sense.
