We continue our look at how different schools are preparing for returning to class with new Covid-19 restrictions.

Look at how some of our charter school's are preparing to return to class, during this pandemic school year.

Today we vist the chattanooga girls leadership academy.

It's tonight's, what's right with our schools.

Natural sound: 97.3 ok elaine: we are taking temperatures of students before they enter the building.

Do you know before they get off the bus in the morning; if it's walkers will take it before they enter the door.

Students will no longer eat lunch in this cafeteria.

They will pick up their lunches as you saw the teachers doing today.

And take it to their classroom.

This is a year where you know it's going to be longer in time because we have more to talk about.

Not just the vision of the school and our data but we also have to talk about how we are opening school in a very different manner.

Natural sound: we have teachers in training all summer and they have learned how to teach virtual.

So were you think you were going to be excited about some of the things that teachers have learned to do.

Kelsey: well i definitely miss my students.

I really hope that we get to bring them into the building.

You can interact with the students virtually.

Sometimes the kids are better with virtual interaction than we are as adults.

But there is something about being with people in a space together and learning and talking together.

I teach mouth and i really miss having the girls all in the space talking together about mathematics.

Natural sound: so you walk in on thursday at 7:50 you get bored about 815.

Do you want to go outside and feed your dog and stuff.

Do not leave class.

Elaine: maintaining attendance in this time especially in this time students are hybrid some are learning from home the entire time.

That is a challenge within itself making sure that students are in front of the camera with the teacher you know on our zoom or whatever we choose to use to teach our students.

We still have those high expectations and so we have to figure out a way as adults to make sure that we engage students.

One of the big difference is is we have to social distance.

We have to think about every little thing that we put in place to keep our falco t and our staff and our students safe.

And so the over arching picture of trying to start school is going to be very very different during this time.
