Fall seasons..

The miaa ultimately making the call today to suspend fall sports until after january 1... talking with league leaders today... the best way to describe this... back in march... canceling sports was a lot like ripping off a bandaid..

Happened fast and it was over... this suspension of play..

And slow, painful experience because we never knew when things would unfold... but the miaa tried everything to get a fall sports season in..

While other division ii conferences postponed back in july..

The league held on..

Just postponing contests until october..

But once the ncaa back the league into a corner with strict testing measures forcing schools to juggle student-athlete/ coaches health, wit budgets, and local and state guidelines... (sot, mike racy: "finding a path forward.") the miaa won't make a decision on winter sports starting until october... the miaa made it clear for weeks..

The conference and its leaders did everything they could to give their athletes and coaches an opportunity this fall... but some things just out of their control... the ncaa put those guidelines in place and caused a lot of stress and even more uncertainy... nothing was for sure if the miaa had the greenlight to play this fall, but make no mistake about an effort would have been made... (sot, josh looney: "they want to play.") josh looney over at missouri western said it... miaa commissioner mike racy said..

All the leaders wanted to talk about today..

The impact this decision has on those student-athletes... the miaa made sure student- athletes were heard throughout the summer..

Griffon soccer player mackenzie served on the miaa covid-19 task force... she's also represents at the ncaa level too... commissioner racy told me today..

When she spoke in meetings athletic directors listened... today, she reacts to the decision... (sot, mackenzie o'neill: "what is important.") and up in maryville..

Northwest missouri state... the football team had made 16- straight postseasons... and all of these sports losing opportunities for now... but athletic director andy peterson says it's hard to find the right words to tell the students... (sot, andy peterson: "words to express it to them.") while college sports now delayed...
