Fans Can Return To The Stands

School officials say they have strict guidelines in place to practice CDC recommendations, the first step was to limit the amount of people in the stands at football games.

And some good news tonight - fans will be allowed to attend friday night football games - and indoor sporting events -- sanctioned by the e-v-s-c.

44news reporter tyler druin live tonight with the details - and we now know the fan- experience will be a part of the upcoming season-- but tyler how does the school corporation plan to keep those spectators-- mostly parents-- and students-- safe?

School officials say they have strict guidelines in place to practice cdc recommendatio ns - the first step was to limit the amount of people in the stands - "we are really excited to announce that we are going to allow spectators at our games this week" wednesday the evsc announced that fans will be able to cheer on their favorite teams - however - having spectators in attendance has raised questions for health officials - "i think it is the right choice to make, a lot of these kids have worked their tails off their whole lives" while fans can attend the game - a limited number of tickets will be pre sold ticket windows at friday night football games will be closed - "for the footballs that are outside, we will have a limit of 500 fans, 250 for the home team- 250 for the visiting team" "i don't think the people will have a problem socially distancing, wearing a mask and what not" school administrators stress the importance of social distancing - families will be able to sit with each other in the bleachers - lawn chairs will be allowed - "we hold the right to ask someone to leave if they cant comply, social distancing and wearing a mask is mandatory" students who attend school sporting events must now be accompanied by an adult fans will have designated entrances based on the team their rooting for - "some sports is better than no sports, right now we have so much negativity going on in the world, we need something positive to look forward to" unlike years before - spectators will now have to leave immediately following the contest - school personnel are encouraging anyone with a previous medical history to stay home - "i completely support the school boards choice to do this it is the right thing to do" other sports like volleyball - tennis and soccer will only allow 250 fans to attend total - the evsc athletic office says they expect sold out crowds at all the games this friday night - - reporting live in evansville tyler druin 44news governor eric holcomb
