Mocs one game schedule

UTC announces they will play only one team this fall in football.

Coach Wright doesn't mince words this afternoon describing football during a pandemic.

Need a pocket schedule or one of those refrigerator magnets detailing u-t-c's football schedule.

The mocs have only one date.

The school announced today they'll visit western kentucky on october 24th.

The mocs were left without any play dates when the socon canceled fall sports due to the pandemic.

Wright:"right now we're just planning on playing western kentucky and calling it a day and moving on to the next phase."

Wow.

A one game season.

Head coach rusty wright doesn't even try to sugarcoat football in the world of covid.

Wright:"it sucks you know.

It's walking around campus and everything is quiet.

Everybody has got their mask on and doing that.

It's just.

It's different.

Words can't describe it."

As is stands now, u-t-c will begin fall camp around september 24th to prepare for their road trip to western kentucky on october 24th.

Wright:"trying to treat it like a bowl game leading up to it.

Feed them a little differently.

Maybe go see some corvettes up in bowling green on the way up.

Hang out a little bit and enjoy each other.

Just enjoy the time we get to play a football game."

With a one game season, wright says a couple of veteran players have already chosen to opt out.

Wright:"i've had a couple of seniors say hey you know what, i've got nine hours to graduate.

I've got ten hours to graduate in december.

You know what coach.

I'm going to move on with life.

I completely get that."

The big 10 has mentioned playing a spring football season, but wright isn't sure if the socon will try a spring schedule as well.

Wright:"have not seen anything concrete.

People keep saying that.

The ncaa has not come out with that.

The conferences have said they're looking into that.

We ahve not seen anything in regards to that.

I hope we get next fall settled before we move on to try and figure out a way to play in the spring."
