Spotlight Music Series

>> on this week's spotlight music series, we want to check in with our good friend, singer lauren hall, a singer-songwriter in the low country, who has been out performing and she's also taking a hiatus.

But she has a big announcement that a sim is coming out next month that we're all excited to hear and first and foremost, how are you doing.

>> thank you for having me on the show, and i'm doing well.

And it's weird not to be playing as much, but i'm excited to release the sim and doing the show next week.

>> the last time we spoke, you were talking about what a fruitful time this was for you as an artist because you got to sit down and write and think about your music, and so now audiences are getting ready for the release of your latest single and when is that coming out?

>> yes, it's coming out next friday on september 4th, and we're doing a release show at the drive-in, i'm excited to get out and play, and we're doing the whole band show as well.

So we're getting the band back together.

We have a pre save campaign now, so if people to the get the pre save song out, i have it.

>> we're going to hear the song after the break, but i want to talk about the itchy feet that you and a lot of your peers had during covid.

So while it was a good incubation time creatively speak, you couldn't wait to get out there and perform for audiences but it's a little bit of a fine line to walk there.

Because while this is what you do and you need to get out there and perform, you can't always count on the audiences to behave themselves, so talk about what it was like come back to performing live and why you decided to maybe slow down a little bit during this time.

>> yeah, it's really different for everybody with different situations, but i think as musician, our job is to go and entertain people and help them have a good time.

And i think when we were all scaped of told, you can go out now and just try to social distance, everybody wants to go out and have a fun time because even been coupled up so long.

So for me to find gigs that are fitting for me, i'm trying to be safe about it.

Because as a vocalist, you don't want to get it, and you don't want to promote people spreading it either.

So it has been a fine line of figuring out which gigs are safe and ca which are not as safe, whatever it is, and it's hard because we're entertainers because we love to be around groups of people.

And we love to have people gather and connect with one another that way.

So i missed it a lot.

And i'm trying to play every now and then, and hopefully have more shows line under in the fall once thins calm down more around here.

But i'm excited to have that show coming up next friday.

It's going to be fun.

The holy city drive inn, everyone is in their cars, and they have lawn vendors and it's setting up for what's going on right now.

>> this is a lesson for all of you audiences out there, admire from afar, don't go up into their face and don't say how much you love them.

They can hear you from six feet away, if not more.

>> we love our listeners, but we have to -- >> we got to keep you safe, lauren, so you can have more years and more music coming out.

>> check the pipes, you know?

>> absolutely.

Well i want to thank you so much for coming on and sharing all of this wonderful news with us, so we're going to [ music ]
