ECS Girls Soccer Team Soaring Despite COVID-19

Pkg john this is just the second year in the history of varsity girls soccer at evansville christian.

Last season the eagles posted a 6-6-3 mark... and they are already in a position to have more wins this season.

Pkg trt:1:45" oc:garcia 44 sports ((eagles ready to soar)) before the coronavirus pandemic hit, it wasn't common to see teams playing or practicing in a pandemic, but at evansville christian school, the experience has not been that different.

On the actual field it's been pretty similar.

I mean we don't wear masks ((rosalie )) on the field which is extremely nice, i know some schools and universities are requiring that.

Before and after practice ((eagles ready to soar)) it still seems, relatively similar but i mean, we have our gaiters on during the games when we're on the bench.

The practices are pretty much run the same other than social ((moriah)) distancing of course, when we have breaks and other than that it's the same just outside of practice making sure ((eagles ready to soar)) that we're careful, staying safe.

We don't want to be quarantined and miss part of our season.

When the ihsaa discussed return to play policies, one things that was decided was school districts could elect not to allow teams to play if desired.

Evansville christian school was one school that decided to play and as a result, the girls soccer team is currently ranked 7th in the state.

We still are a couple years away from getting to compete at the sectional ((eric )) and regional on through state and the state tourney ((eagles ready to soar)) although we are an ihsaa team.

So this year for us we would love to try to win the majority if not all of our games this year, just taking it one game at a time, so far we're 4-0.*nat pop a big reason why evansville christian is enthusiastic about this year and the future is because of players like moriah dunham and tina geer.

Geer leads the entire assists and she's just a freshman, while dunham is third in the state in scoring and will be the first person in school history to play a collegiate sport.

Going to a christian university, taylor, it's a wonderful campus, awesome coaches and i'm just excited to play with some awesome girls and be able to a christian school and play soccer is just a dream.
