A former Reitz High School student returned home to Evansville on Saturday after spending more than three weeks in a St.

Louis hospital recovering from a brain injury that was suffered in an August car crash.

Suffered in a car accident last month, jackson dassel returned back to the river city in fashion.

Dassel and his father pulled up in a convertible to the old walmart parking lot on the west side of evansville after driving back from st.

Louis.

The father and son duo were greeted by more than 100 people that were there to welcome jackson back home.

The crowd was filled with signs, balloons, and ecstatic friends and family members.

Last month a former reitz high school wide receiver was seriously injured in a car crash after accidentally crossing the median and crashing into a truck, and he spent more than 3 weeks in st.

Louis rehabbing his injuries but that former panther has now made it back to the river city.

And i caught up with jackson to get his reaction to being back home.

"'i'm just very happy to be home, yeah.

Im very thankful, yeah.

It;s just crazy how god works."

And this isn the first time jackson friends and family have gathered in his honor.

Back in mid- august, there was a prayer vigil for dassel that was held at at the fairfield inn parking lot on the west side of town.

That gathering saw hundreds of people come together and pray for the health and recovery of the recent high school graduate.

And last month, jackson was hospitalized with a deep brain bruise that left many worried.

But jackson told me the doctors said itl just be 6 months until he able to get back behind the wheel.
