Temperatures in the 50s.

As connor showed us.... many are still waiting to see if their home survived the holiday farm fire... but others don't have to deal with the uncertainity.

They know they lost their home.

Kezi 9 news reporter emma withrow spoke with a family who lost everything in their vida home... but maintain a positive attitude and sense of hope.

Forty two years... four children... and eight grandchildren later.... the esch family built a home that was cherished by not only them... but all of their neighbors and friends..

It sat on the mckenzie river in vida and served as a perfect backdrop for fishing..

Hiking... and relaxing... but unfortunately they were out of town when the holiday farm fire hit... and unable to save their one of a kind items and photos.

"there's just so many memories and treasures there but i have my family and that's the most important."

Emma: even though shannon and doug couldnt get to their house to save anything... they saved something so much more valuable.... the lives of their neighbors and friends in the area who had no idea the fire was getting so close.

Shannon told me that she spent all night when the fire first started texting and calling her neighbors and friends nearby to alert them and tell them to get out!

Many were sound asleep in their homes until shannon and doug got ahold of them.

"we have had i mean just the people who live in springfield and eugene or up the river, i have had so many people come and offer help and support and just their kidness and how sympathetic they are."

And now that shannon and doug are confident that all of their family and friends are safe... i asked them what the future looks like?

"at this point we're still trying to figure out what we're going to do, and how we're going to do things and what have you.

So its just hard cause you're kinda in a fog, you don't have two braincells to rub together."

But they do have family...and friends.
