Vigo County School Corporation announces plan to return all students to five-days of in-person learning

We start with that breaking news involving future learning plans at the vigo county school corporation.

Our rondrell moore is in the newsroom with what we've learned.

The vigo county school corporation just announced what they're calling a "metered plan" to return students to the classroom five days a week.

Superintendent rob haworth says ..

There hasn't been any major spread of covid-19 in vigo county schools.

He calls it limited.

We told you earlier this week, students at "8" elementaries returned to the classroom full time.

The goal is still to bring back the rest of the elementary students on tuesday, october 6th.

Today--- haworth also announced the school corporation's looking at returning middle and high school students to a full time schedule as well.

This, of course depends on if they can continue limiting the spread... all traditional middle school and 9th grade students would return to the classroom 5 days a week beginning on tuesday, october 13th.

That's the first day after vigo county's fall break.

High school sophomores, juniors and seniors will return to class full time later this fall.

They haven't given an exact date.

The district says ..

We're moving in the right direction.

03:46:43,09 "we're not seeing evidence of spread necessarily in within our building and so that tells us... that over the last 7 weeks we've demonstrated success in the a-b model."

Now... the now... the district is continuing to discuss a return to school for students in the hybrid programs at the elementary and middle school level.

The hybrid option was developed as a program to ease students back into the classroom.

We'll have more on the thought process of this decision coming up tonight on news 10.

The vigo county school corporation updated its covid-19 dashboard.

Here's a look at the latest data.

There are "5" students and "5" staff members with covid-19 who had campus contact.

"84" students and "10" staff members are actively quarantined.

The number of quarantined students is up by "30" from las week.

The number of staff members quarantined is down by "12".

The state of indiana is publishing a new dashboard with school data.
