One Local Parent Says She's Excited

Tonight we are hearing from some madison county schools parents who are excited about the return to a five day week starting monday.

Waay 31's max cohan joins us live outside the district office with more on the district's return to in-person learning, max?

Guys, last monday madison county students began to return to classrooms in a transitional week -- with students separated by last name and only attending school in person for two days.

But tomorrow, they'll all be back.

With students getting a taste of what the new academic experience will be like, one mother tells me her son said aside from the masks -- it's not all that different.

Now she says she has no worries about the full return and looks forward to being able return her son's education into the hands of professionals.

"for me, i'm just really excited for him to go back because i didn't go to school to be a teacher, that's not what i do.

I put a lot of faith and trust in professional educators to educate my child and i trust them way more than i trust myself."

Nevins said shes excited that her son will have a more structured schedule now and joked that she's looking forward to the end of household tensions when she had to remind her son to complete his online assignments.

According to the district -- about 70 percent of students are opting to return to in person learning.
