The $450,000 emergency fire loan was approved by the state within the past month.

Double property taxes in wabash township.

The township board is hosting a public hearing tomorrow on its 2021 budget.

The 450-thousand- dollar emergency fire loan was approved by the state within the past month.

The loan could raise taxes from seven cents up to 15 cents for every 100-dollars of assessed value.

That's a jump from about 100-dollars to more than 200- dollars a year for homes valued at 150-thousand- dollars.

Township trustee jennnifer (tie-sing) teising says the money will add four full-time firefighters.

The firefighters will also receive retirement and health insurance benefits.

We had firefighters this year going through a global pandemic with a killer virus without health insurance benefits.

It's atrocious.

Wabash township is the largest in the county and is still growing.

Teising says the previous administration's operational budget was exceeding its revenue.

The budget hearing is being held virtually at 6 p.m.

Tomorrow.
