A cafe in Thailand still sells hand-roasted coffee bean drinks at the same spot after 114 years.

The Tia Yong Lii shop in Pathum Thani province still sells the original recipe coffee after more than a century of serving hot and cold drinks in the area.

It was built next to canals dug in the 1890s used by traders and would sell coffee to them as they travelled to markets.

However, most customers are now tourists, cyclists or locals on day trips along the canal.

After three generations, the management of the cafe has been handed down to the family's now 60-year-old son Ananchai Teeralapsuwon.

He starts the day in the shop the same as they did before - by roasting the robusta coffee beans over hot coal for at least half an hour before the aroma starts to fill the air.

One of their famous drinks “Nhor Kao" which means "two mouths" in the local language.

It is a mixture of coffee, tea, and condensed milk or sugar, depending on if it's hot or cold.

Drinks cost between 10 baht (0.25GBP) and 15 baht (37.5GBP).

Ananchai said they source their coffee beans from farms in Thailand, as well as the other ingredients they use in the shop.

He said they didn't change a single recipe on their menu and despite gaining fame, the shop didn't increase the price of their sought-after beverages.

Ananchai told local media that it was his ''duty'' to carry on his father's work ''until my body breaks down''.

He said that the price of the drinks would not increase as he ''can live comfortably from it''.

However, Ananchai is unsure if his children will take over the shop from him as there are ''better prospects'' elsewhere for them.
