Man forged documents to get loan for Gelston Castle

A man from Queens has pleaded guilty to fraud charges after he forged documents to take out a mortgage refinance loan for Gelston Castle Estate in Mohawk.

And getting a mortgage refinance loan on gelston castle, in mohawk......by forging documents.

Jason safford, who had an ownership interest in the property, pleaded guilty in federal court to bank fraud, attempted wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

A financial institution in san francisco approved a 1.3 million dollar loan in 2016.

--nearly 1.2 million remains outstanding.

Two years later, safford tried to apply for a two million dollar loan, again using forged documents.

--the loan was never funded.

Safford also admitted that he obtained money from multiple investors to develop gelston castle... but didn't use the money for that.

The 45 year old is scheduled to be sentenced in february.

He faces two to 30 years in prison....fines totaling more than a million dollars.....and will have to pay restitution.

Staying on the story.
