Man killed during officer-involved shooting in Chico, Butte Co. DA investigating

The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.

Police have been on scene here for well over 2 hours.

Chico pd, butte county sheriff and chp are all here.

We are still waiting for police to give us details of everything that happened here tonight.

Right now they continue to investigate the scene gathering evidence and interviews.

And while they cant confirm the person shot was killed see there is a tarp covering a body in front of petco where the shooting took place.

Witnesses however say that is the body of the person who was shot by police.

This incident started at the community park on the other side of east 20th.

Witnesses here tell me the person was jumpin on top of vehicles and oncoming traffic.

Police were called in, thats when witnesses say they heard anywhere from 5 to 6 gunshots fired by police.

"i was in the middle of the intersection and he was attacking cars.

One after the others.

One guy was chasing him after he did damage to his car.

The guy turned around and - bam bam bam bam bam bam and it was over.

They handcuffed him, rolled him over and handcuffed him."

A witness i spoke to who had his windshield smashed by the person described the man as 6 feet tall, in their late 20s with blonde hair.

The parking lot to barnes and noble is blocked off.

The district attorney's office should arrive on scene at any minute.
