This morning, governor andrew cuomo gave movie theatres the "go ahead" to reopen next week.

With this, comes some rules though.

Newschannel 2's brent kearney has your top story tonight.

"hello you've reached the strand mov theatre old forge."

.

None "if you've been calling movie theatres over the past 6 or 7 month's you've probably been getting a similiar message."

"no opening date as of yet has been announced."

Well movies theatres are going to need to change those voicemails after the governor's announcement.

"beginning october 23 rd movies theatres outside of new york city will be allowed to reopen at 25% capacity with up to 50 people maximum per screen."

In august we met with bob card and helen zyma who both own the strand movie theatre in old forge, and i spoke with helen once again through video chat.

"so this must be an exciting day for you."

"i was shocked by the governor's announcementoo.

Iwase theatres.

I fe my heartflutter t opening soon."heatres outside of new york city will only be allowed to reopen if their region's infection rate is below two percent on a fourteen day average.

Masks and social distancing will be required, assigned seating in all theatres, increased staffing, and theatres will be required to meet enhanced air filtration standards.

"the only thing that we are concerned about is the air quality guidelines.

We dont really know what that means for us.

Do we have to spend some money to put something new in."

Helen and bob say they personally wont be ready to open by the 23rd as they work to figure out what they need to do, but helen says they are looking forward seeing their winter customers.

"as long as we have snow, people come up for that.

And they'll want to take a break at night so they'll come see a movie."
