It seems family and friends have gathered to share their sympathy and support.

L3: top story white elderly woman killed in crossfire during shootout lexington we told you yesterday about the shooting in the 500- block of west fifth street at around 3- 30 in the afternoon.

Lexington police say dozens of gunshots were exchanged between multiple people in separate vehicles.

Police say 82-year- old alice carter and a family member were getting out of their car when the shooting was going on... and carter was hit.

Carter was taken to the hospital... where she died.

Neighbors tell me carter was a very nice woman and the shooting was senseless...they also say they want those involved brought to justice.

According to the lexington herald leader...carter had 8 children...and great and grandchildren.

The newspaper also reports carter's daughter, vanessa smothers, says her mother wouldve already forgiven the people who fatally shot her.

Smothers say it's going to take a while to deal with this sudden tragedy.
