"hoarding conditions"- that's what the utica fire chief iscalt happened at 1565 howard ave around 2 o clock this afternoon.
Chief scott ingersoll tells us the fire was in the second floor apartment.
There was heavy smoke when they got there.
He says the conditions inside, made it difficult for firefighters to get to the fire.
Ingersoll says: "there were some hoarding type conditions, a lot of garbage in there too that the firefighters had to deal with, they amde their wayte in the kitchen and were able to get that extinguished."
"and we're going to be working with the landlord to get the house repaired at this time we had to pull the power meters and shut off the gas to the building."
Ingersoll says all occupants got out safely.
They will be getting help from the red cross.
The cause is under investigation.
