Hiring workers to handle the wave of packages

Amy between the election, pandemic, and the apporaching holiday season, this is an extremely busy time for the u?*- s postal service.

Right now, the us postal service is looking to hire 250 temporary workers in minnesota and western wisconsin.

Here in rochester, they are looking to employ 90 temporary workers.

I spoke with nicole hill with the postal service.

She says this is the first opportunity the postal service has had to beef up staffing since the pandemic hit.

During covid we were seeing an increase in numbers because people were staying home and instead of going out grocery shopping, and um, going to the big box stores, they were ordering from online which definitely contributed to our package volume.

And now with the holidays, were expecting that number to grow even more.

So were trying to be proactive has peak season is right around the corner now the peak season for the us postal service begins right after thanksgiving.

The holiday positions jeremy spoke of are strictly temporary and will end the first week of january.
