100 Students, teachers in quarantine

Today - we have an update from another school district there dealing with coronavirus.

In sheffield - more than 100 students and teachers from city schools are in quarantine because of possible exposure.

Now - the junior high school will be virtual all of this week and next waay31s sierra phillips is live with what brought the district to that decison.

It's something that schools across the country are dealing with right now - a substitute teacher shortage!

The deputy superintendent at sheffield city schools said they're having a hard time finding enough subs to fill in for staff that's quarantined!

Even though the junior high school is the only school virtual-only for now - the enitre district transitioned to remote learning for one day last friday.

That gave custodians and teachers the chance to deep clean schools and classrooms. even though there's a shortage of substitute teachers - the deputy superintendent said they aren't considering a pay increase at this point, since they believe people are fearful no matter what the job pays.

Nelson- the main thing is they're just not comfortable coming into the building right now.

Another district in colbert county - tuscumbia city schools - are having the same problem with staffing.

That's why they're online- only for the rest of the week.
