The Pac-12 will allow schools to schedule non-conference games in case Conference opponents can't play.
There have been a number of pac-12 football games cancelled this season due to covid-19.
But, the pac-12 has come up with a backup plan to make sure its teams play as many games as possible.
Kezi 9 sports reporter julian mininsohn is in the studio to explain.
In an effort to make sure no healthy team is left at home, the pac-12 will allow its schools to schedule non- conference games.
But not without a few rules.
First off -- all pac-12 testing protocol must be followed by the non-conference opponent.
The non- conference game must be a home game for the pac-12 team and be broadcast by a pac-12 tv partner.
And if a pac-12 opponent becomes available by the end of day thursday in any given week, the conference game must be played in lieu of any non- conference game.
In a statement from pac-12 commissioner larry scott...he says "the pac-12 is committed to maintaining maximum flexibility to provide our football student- athletes with an opportunity to compete, while continuing to ensure that health and safety remains our number one priority."
Prior to this the pac-12 banned all non-cofnerence games for this year.
All games that have been cancelled this season have been deemed, "no contest.
