Patterson Sentencing
Patterson Sentencing
Presiding Judge Robert Baker on Patterson.

Late october the alabama attorney general says patterson stole close to 48-thousand dollars from the limestone county juvenile court services fund!

His actions earned him a scathing report from the presiding judge over the county court.

Waay 31's ashley carter joins us live this morning.

Ashley, some people don't believe judge patterson is remorseful for his actions.

Ashley?

I have that 2-page letter from limestone county presiding judge robert baker in my hand.

Judge baker says watching patterson get paid while under indictment and making a mockery of justice was, quote," gut wrenching to endure."

He believes patterson should serve a lengthy prison sentence with even more probation for justice to be served.

In the letter -- judge baker expressed his frustration with patterson -- emphasizing that the former judge continued to collect about 10 thousand dollars a month after his indictment last year-- but did not use any of that money to repay his victims. he says patterson, quote, "embarked on a year long odyseey of lies...deceit in delay"-- and never took accountability for his actions.

Judge baker added that patterson's guilty plea was not because of a, quote "moral epiphany," but because he wants to avoid "a trial which would have detailed his crimes and exposed other embarssing details that he did not want made public."

Prosecutors are seeking a 15-year split sentence for patterson.

That means he would serve 5 years in prison -- and 10 years on probation.
