NWMSU reflects on the handling of COVID-19 at the university

While local colleges and universities are wrapping up their semesters,they're each taking a look back on how they strategically handled the pandemic.kq2's danielle soxy talked with one covid-19 task-force member at northwest today...she brings us that story.

I think we contribute that back to our planning efforts.

You know, we brought in people from various parts of the university with very uniquie perspectives and specialized perspectives to make sure we were accounting for a number of different situations and nuances and respond to chanllenges we figured we would be faced with."northwest missouri state was able to maintain positive covid cases to only 155 on campus...using a technique that is quite simple...sot: brad scott, nw asst.

A term you probably haven't heard of since grade school, is being used again in the college classroomsot: brad scott, nw asst.

Vp of enterprise risk management "that was something new that we did this year.

And what that allowed us to do is know exactly where an indiviual was sitting in that class and we can go into that seating chart and know exactly how many and what indivuals were seating in a specific proximity of that case."allowing the kids to stay in the classroom, and continue to sot: brad scott, nw asst.

Vp of enterprise risk management "so instead of having to go in and not know where and possibly having quarantine the entire class, we down to specific known individuals and hopefully keep place as long as we possibly could."

Wraps up, the crisis management team has yet to make adjustments for the spirng, but plan to take a hard look at the numbers and see what changes need to be made.

Vp of management "as we do that, we'll with our external partners, public health, medical professionals, and look at that a little mroe closely and see what adjustments we need to be made and if that's the appropriate way to move forward and we can make sure we do that."
